About us

Lickleyhead Castle is your stunning, exclusive use Scottish country retreat. Nestled in the heart of Royal Deeside and backing onto Mount Bennachie of song and tale, we host bespoke micro-weddings and offer a luxurious sojourn to those looking to stay as a group in quirky extravagance. The castle dates back to the middle ages and has been graced by the presence of both royalty and Hollywood stars in its many centuries. Most guests select self-catering during their stay though we can help you find caterers, a private chef or even a butler!

Groups of all sizes are welcome to stay in style and opulence at Lickleyhead Castle. It is possible to take the smaller East Wing with its Georgian charms, the larger West Wing with its 'real castle' feel or indeed the whole of Lickleyhead Castle! The East Wing sleeps 4 people, the West Wing 12 and the whole castle sleeps 16 (plus two children).

There are 8 unique bedrooms, each styled to a different period in the castle's long history, including the laird's room with its hand carved Queen Anne four poster bed and the Forbes room with a box bed! We also boast myriad bathrooms, the games room, the ante-room and the chapel. The main kitchen is large enough to prepare a Dickensian feast and well stocked with facilities old and new. There are two living rooms, the relatively normal sized panelled room with its wood burning stove and then the gigantic great hall with its huge open fire. Guests staying in the East Wing have access to the Edwardian Pantry, a bijou though still fully functional kitchen.

With ample outdoor space, including a large barbecue area, the entire group can spend quality time together, roaming the ten acre estate. Lickleyhead Castle is the ideal location, with plenty of things to do in the grounds, such as wild fruit picking, cycling through the beautiful countryside or indulging in paid activities such as the mini-highland games. Beyond the estate there is also a wealth of fun to be had whatever your interests.
